Flight Centre Profit Down 4.7 Percent August 24, 2016
Australian travel group Flight Centre announced a full-year profit drop of 4.7 percent to AUD$244.6 million (USD$186.4 million). Flight Centre said airfare price wars and Britain’s decision to leave the European Union contributed to the poorer numbers. "In the UK, the Brexit referendum has adversely affected consumer confidence and demand for travel… While it is impossible to predict a timeframe for recovery, we believe travel patterns will start to return to normal as the year progresses,” chief executive Graham Turner said in a statement. The group declared a final dividend of 92 cents a share. |
